Abstract

E-learning holds significant potential in India, a country with vast educational needs and disparities. It serves as a critical tool for democratizing education by providing access to quality learning resources across geographical and socioeconomic boundaries. E-learning platforms enable flexible learning opportunities, allowing students and professionals to learn at their own pace, which is particularly beneficial in a diverse and populous country like India. Additionally, the integration of multimedia and interactive content in e-learning enhances the learning experience, making education more engaging and effective. This study explores the views of 141 teachers from private schools in Ahmedabad on the evolving role of e-learning in education. The research focuses on two primary objectives: first, to analyze teachers’ perceptions of the challenges and opportunities presented by e-learning; and second, to investigate the relationship between teachers’ demographic profiles and their perceptions of these challenges and opportunities. The findings indicate that while teachers appreciate the flexibility and personalization offered by e-learning platforms, they also express concerns about the lack of physical interaction, which can hinder relationship-building with students. Furthermore, the study reveals a significant association between demographic factors, such as age and experience, and teachers’ perceptions, suggesting that different demographic groups experience e-learning’s challenges and opportunities in varied ways. These insights are critical for shaping future e-learning strategies and ensuring they address the diverse needs of educators.
