ABSTRACT
The liberalization of the Indian economy in 1991 marked a significant turning point in the nation’s development, influencing various sectors, including education. This article explores the evolution of the Indian education system in the post-liberalization era, highlighting key reforms, challenges, and outcomes. The period following liberalization saw a surge in private sector participation, technological advancements, and globalization, all of which played critical roles in transforming the education landscape. Government initiatives, such as the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, the Right to Education Act, and the New Education Policy 2020, have aimed to improve access, equity, and quality in education. Despite these efforts, the system continues to grapple with challenges such as disparities in access, quality of education, and employability of graduates. The article concludes by discussing the future of education in India, emphasizing the need for continued reform and innovation to meet the demands of a globalized economy and achieve inclusive and quality education for all.
