Abstract:
Social media has become a transformative force in shaping political discourse in India. With the proliferation of platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp, the way political information is disseminated, consumed, and debated has fundamentally changed. This article examines the multifaceted impact of social media on Indian political discourse, exploring how it has empowered citizens, reshaped political campaigns, and influenced public opinion. It also addresses the challenges posed by the spread of misinformation, echo chambers, and the potential for social media to exacerbate polarization. The article argues that while social media has democratized political communication and expanded participation, it also necessitates greater regulation and media literacy to ensure a healthy and informed political environment.
